What is a blog...

jacob's picture

A blog is a web diary of sorts. It's a page of postings in reverse chronological order, so the latest posting is on top. The main difference between a blog and a forum is the blog posting is the main focus, with the blog operator deciding that focus while other users comment. A forum's focus can be controlled by anyone. Also, a blog tends to incorporate more sophisticated publishing and aggregation via technologies such as xmlrpc.

Tech Acronyms

This reminds me of a funny tech acronym.

A web server that runs Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP is typically called a LAMP stack. I was thinking about it and a not so common combination is Windows, IIS, MySQL and PHP ....or a WIMP stack. That's funny to Linux enthusiasts, like me.
